Take for example, the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, TX – one of the largest resorts and convention centers in Texas. For over 7 years, we have had the privilege of serving them as our customer.

With 4.5 acres of indoor gardens, 10 restaurants, a seasonal water park, two pools, and 1,822 hotel rooms, this is a resort that could only make its home in The Lone Star State. The massive property also includes an impressive 5,000 square feet convention center and event space for weddings, meetings, conventions, tradeshows and more. They pride themselves in delivering an extraordinary experience to their guests.

We are honored with the responsibility of being the primary provider of center of the plate proteins and specialty foods for this legendary property. On any given day, you can find Martin Preferred Foods products on the plates of the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center guests. Our work helps provide marinated protein and specialty grocery products to this customer, which in turn allows them to delight the thousands of guests they host every day.

While Dallas Regional Sales associates provides excellent daily customer service to the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, it takes a whole team of people to ensure that orders make it to the customer correctly and on time, every time. Team members in departments such as outside sales, inside sales, marketing, IT, accounting, purchasing, operations, R&D, poultry production, meat production, warehouse, and transportation, make it possible to service the orders of a customer of this magnitude.

And when we say orders, this means approximately 500,000 lbs of proteins a year, plus a large number of specialty foods and wild game items!

To gain further insight into the customer point of view, we asked the Gay-lord Texan Resort & Convention Center’s Director of Purchasing, Jay Bohland, to share what he feels are the most important factors a supplier like Martin Preferred Foods must maintain in order to exceed their expectations. Ensuring that the products sourced by our purchasing team, and prepared by our production and warehouse teams are of the highest quality, is available at the right time, in the right quantity and exactly to the customers’ specifications.

On-time deliveries

Making sure that the transportation team has the products they need in time to deliver them on time, and in great condition every time.

Consistent Superior customer service

Providing timely issue resolution by all teams and crafting solutions that benefit the customers’ business – including, providing value through superior product knowledge, culinary expertise, data-driven recommendations, and more.

Taking Pride in What We Do

Mr. Jay Bohland continued by sharing, “It is clear that your employees take pride in the solutions they provide, we have had minimal issues with Martin Preferred Foods.”

He also stressed the importance of accountability and relationship with each member of the Martin Preferred Foods team, “The product you touch affects our guests, which in turn affects our bottom line. There is a chain effect if things aren’t done correctly, and conversely, when things are done right, we all win. What you do impacts our business, and consequently it impacts your business and your team members. We all depend on each other.”
